Dealers are inundated with data. Website analytics, OEM sales reports, internal management reports, TPS reports, 20 Group reports, etc..
Working with dealers across the country, I see managers and staff who spend countless hours gathering data and printing reports that no one ever looks at.
Take time at the beginning of the year to audit the time that is spent generating reports. Ask all your managers to gather the reports they generate each week and then sit down as a group and go through them. Identify the ones that help you to move the business forward, see if they need updating, and then prioritize those. Everything else should be removed from the weekly task lists.
Time truly is one of our most valuable resources. Everyone in the dealership is a salesperson (selling a product, a service, or themselves). Don’t have your team wasting time generating data that no one will ever look at. Repurpose that time to do things that will help the business to grow.
