I’ve been lucky to develop a great relationship with the team at The Accounting Guys. TAG is staffed with some of the best Lightspeed DMS experts in the powersports industry, and what makes them different is that they don’t just understand accounting. They understand how a dealership actually operates.
That matters, because Lightspeed is one of the most important systems inside a dealership, but far too many dealers barely tap into what it can really do. In a lot of stores, Lightspeed is treated like a necessary piece of software used to write deals, post repair orders, invoice parts, and close the books. But when it is configured properly and used consistently, it can become much more than that. It can help create better processes, cleaner reporting, stronger accountability, and a more efficient dealership.
The challenge is that most dealers are busy running the store. They don’t always have the time, internal expertise, or outside guidance needed to fully understand what Lightspeed is capable of. That is where people like the TAG team bring real value. They know the system, but more importantly, they know how the system should support the people using it every day.
Over the last year, I’ve partnered with Brian Lucas, a partner at TAG, and Bryan Tierney, a sales engineer at Lightspeed, on a series of webinars focused on helping dealers get more out of their Lightspeed system. These sessions are built around practical dealership issues, not theory. The goal is simple: help dealers better understand the tools they already have and use them in a way that improves productivity, accuracy, and profitability.
Our first video dives into the basics of report building in Lightspeed. This is a foundational video on which everything else is built.
Our second video shows dealers how to build complex filter and expressions, making sure dealers know how to quickly get some of their data out of the system that they spent years putting in there.
Episode 3 goes into great detail using the data you generate. We touch on Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, and more.
Lightspeed is an incredibly powerful system, but it’s only as good as the employee behind the keyboard. If you want to level up your skills with the DMS, these three videos are a great launch pad.
