Neon sign stating "change"

There are many pros and cons of social media, but I find it fun to look back at historical predictions. In 2007 “peak oil” was the hot topic and predictions of $300 barrels of oil and the end of vehicle ownership were common. In 2008 when Obama was elected, many owners predicted the end of the economy. In 2016 when Trump was elected the left bemoaned the end of the social safety net. In March when COVID went global, many thought the global economy would collapse.

As the election was called on Saturday, I’ve already seen the back and forth from dealers bemoaning the impending demise of society as we know it.

The only thing that’s consistent in America is that our economy continues to steam along, regardless of who is at the helm. Taxes might go up or down from time to time, but no administration wants their legacy to be tied to the implosion of our great country.

I have trouble turning my mind off at night. But one philosophy I have attempted to embrace over the years is “don’t waste time worrying about things that don’t matter/you can’t control”.

Focus on your customers and your business and you will be fine. If you waste time thinking about failing, you will.
